The District Economics and Statistics Office in Peren distributes IT tools to 21 villagers to enhance the digitisation of birth and death registrations.

DIMAPUR — As many as 21 villagers received IT tools and equipment during a programme organised by the District Economics & Statistics Office (DESO), Peren, on Monday, under the Birth and Death Registration based on Aadhar enrolment initiative.
IT equipment such as computer sets were distributed at the DESO premises in Peren, said an update from DPRO Peren.
The Secretary of Economics & Statistics and Chief Registrar of Birth & Death, Akunu S Meyase, briefed on the digitisation process in the state, while Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Hiazu Meru, encouraged the gathering to adopt technology to bring the best improved upgraded networking facilities in the district.
Director of Economics and Statistics and Additional Chief Registrar of Birth and Death Neidilhou Keditsu informed that India had started digitising the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner in 2014, while Nagaland started implementing it only in 2024. She added that only 300 villagers from the state were selected in the first phase of the programme.
SDO Civil Peren, Imtilong Ojukum, expressed gratitude to the department and urged it to upgrade facilities for registering birth and death records, informed the update.
