Wokha, April 14 (EMN): The 20th edition of Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) Martyrs trophy was held at local ground in Wokha on Wednesday.

Dr. Roland Lotha graced the occasion as the special guest at the inaugural function. 21 teams are participating in the tournament.

Speaking during the occasion, Lotha said that unity and forgiveness were the prime source of ‘bridging the gap’.

He encouraged the students to be a source of light that eliminates darkness since they are the future leaders.

He called to inculcate the spirit to contribute towards society at an early stage and be selfless and remain humble.

He said that true unity can happen when one forgives and uproot the selfish thoughts in oneself, and told them to acknowledge one another.

Imtitoshi, SP Wokha, also speaking during the programme, said that football was a disciplined sport and required one to be physically and mentally fit without the influence of any intoxicants. He called the players to be professional in their profession, be strategic, manage time and be determined, while he reminded that this also had to be followed by every student for their academic excellence.

A short speech was also delivered by Mhonlumo Vice-Chairman Lotha Hoho on the occasion.

Earlier, presidential address and welcome note was delivered by Ashanthung Humtsoe, president of LSU.

Amos Odyuo, former LSU president took the tribute remembering the slain heroes.
