IMPHAL, January 24
The first team of the 405 strong Manipur contingents for the upcoming XXXV National Games in Kerala due from January 31 to February 14 next, has been formally flagged off from Khuman Lampak sports complex in Imphal on Saturday morning.
Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh formally flagged off the Deputy Chef De Mission GA Sanatomba sharma and K Jayananda sharma led Manipur contingent around 9.30 am in the morning in front of the Hockey stadium at Khuman Lampak sports complex. The President of Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) Irengbam Hemochandra Singh, who is also the Public Health Engineering department minister and Parliamentary Secretary for Youth affairs and sports and Tourism Mairembam Prithviraj also attended the flagging off ceremony.The first phase team comprises of around 205 participants including 46 participants from Aquatics, 33 participants from Rowing, 29 from Archery, 25 football (women), 15 gymnastics, 13 Wrestling, 12 each of Lawn bowl and shooting, 9 weightlifting, 8 Squash and 3 Yatching. The remaining participants are expected to start moving in phase wise manner.
It may be mentioned that treasurer of MOA and parliamentary secretary Prithviraj along with six other personalities had been appointed as the Chef Me Mission, Deputy Chief De Mission and Administrative Assistant of the Manipur contingent.
