Polan John inaugurated 20 bamboo market stalls at Kukidolong, New Medziphema and Medziphema to support local farmers, producers and entrepreneurs.
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Chümoukedima, Polan John, inaugurated 20 bamboo market stalls at Kukidolong, New Medziphema (Jharnapani) and Medziphema on Friday.
According to a DIPR report, the initiative was undertaken by the Medziphema administration with the support of IDBI Bank to provide a platform for local farmers, producers, entrepreneurs and vendors to showcase and sell their products.
In his inaugural address, John encouraged the participants to make full use of the stalls to showcase locally produced goods and strengthen their livelihoods.
He said the district administration would continue to facilitate initiatives that create opportunities for the people and promote inclusive economic growth.
The DC also informed that solar panels would be installed at the market sites to provide a sustainable source of power.
He urged the village councils to ensure proper care, maintenance and upkeep of the panels so that the facilities could be effectively utilised by vendors and the wider community.
John appreciated IDBI Bank’s support for the initiative, describing it as an example of collaboration between the district administration, financial institutions and local communities.

ADC Medziphema P James Swu said the bamboo market stalls were intended to provide a dedicated platform for local farmers, producers, entrepreneurs and artisans to promote and sell their products.
Swu said the establishment of the stalls had been a long-cherished aspiration of the Medziphema administration and former NBDA chairman Albert Ezung.
He expressed satisfaction that the initiative, envisioned since his joining as ADC Medziphema, had finally materialised.
IDBI Bank Assistant General Manager Zubenthung Jami thanked the district administration for choosing the bank as a partner in the initiative.
He expressed hope that the partnership would continue through similar initiatives and assured the bank’s continued support for the development of the local community.
Following the inauguration, John, Swu and bank officials visited various agricultural and allied activities in the area, including piggery, poultry, rabbit and cattle farms.
