In a tragic incident, two persons including a minor girl succumbed to injuries and two others seriously injured after a van they were travelling in met with an accident at Mokokchung DEF on Monday.
According to sources, the van (AS 01R9698), occupied by four persons who were in-route to town area, hit a passenger bus (NL 01B2430) around at 3:15 pm.
However, no passengers of the bus sustained any injury.
Sources assumed that bad weather and thick fog during those ill-fated hours might be the cause of the accident.
The injured persons were rushed to the nearest hospital (Woodland Nursing Home) for medical aid. The driver and the minor girl succumbed to injuries after the doctors and nurses battled for hours in the emergency room.
Sources from the hospital disclosed that one of patients is still in critical condition. The two deceased were identified as Pangernungsang, 40, (driver) and Yimsumenla, 7.
