Imphal, June 10 (EMN): Two inquiry committees have been formed to check the irregularities if any during the recruitment process of 218 employees of the Manipur state legislative assembly prior to the last assembly elections in the state.
This was disclosed by the assembly speaker Yumnam Khemchand Singh while speaking to reporters in Imphal on Friday.
Prior to the last polls, 181 assembly employees besides 37 scheduled tribe back lock employees were recruited for the state assembly which now has as many as 515 employees.
The two inquiry committees comprising three members each will check the details of the recruitment process before and after the election code of conduct of the assembly elections which was held on March 4 and 8 this year to elect 60 members of the state assembly as the term of current legislative assembly ends on March 18, 2017.
Speaker Khemchand also informed that a departmental enquiry has also been constituted to enquire into the authentication of the OBC certificate issued by the Additional District Magistrate Imphal East district in respect of Thokchom Nivedita Devi of Sagolmang. Chairperson of the committee had written to DC Imphal East district to verify the certificate on June 7 this year.
The steps are being taken up a day after the state government instituted five Special Investigation Team (SIT), to probe the recruitment process in 15 departments effected during the reign of the previous Congress government. The five SITs will probe the alleged irregularities in the recruitment in different Government Departments in 2016-17 including the period when the election model code of conduct had come into force. The SITs will check all the related documents, papers, files during the course of the investigation and the Heads of Departments have been asked to furnish all the needed files before the Chairman of each SIT.
