The 1st Nagaland Open Top Rope Sport Climbing Competition concludes in Dimapur with 120 climbers competing.

DIMAPUR — The 1st Nagaland Open Top Rope Sport Climbing Competition, organised by the Nagaland Sport Climbing Association (NSCA), concluded in Dimapur on October 2.
A total of 120 competitors from various schools and institutions participated across several categories, including climbers from Assam representing the Karbi Anglong Mountaineering Association (KAMA), according to an update.
Delivering the opening remarks, NSCA President M Ababe Ezung encouraged the participating students to develop discipline and confidence through sports, while expressing appreciation to the participating schools, parents, officials, and organisers.
In the Men’s Open category, Lamche Khiamniungan of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School secured first place, while Rohit Chettri of Greenwood Higher Secondary School and Haomingam Chongloi of KAMA finished second and third, respectively.
In the Women’s Open category, Lily Khiamniungan of Greenwood Higher Secondary School won first place, followed by Imtinaro Aier, an Axis Bank employee, in second, and Naro Ronghangpi of KAMA in third.
In the Junior Boys’ category, Lhitite Kapfo and Kenny Kath, both from Lorna’s Higher Secondary School, secured the first and second positions, while Asichi Sangtam of Greenwood Higher Secondary School took third.
In the Junior Girls’ category, Manjuma Begum and Nimugha Aye, both from Lorna’s Higher Secondary School, won first and second places, respectively, while Isana Zhimomi of Riverbelt School finished third.
In the Sub-Junior Boys’ category, Relimong and P Chingloi Phom of Riverbelt School bagged first and second positions, while Atsase Sangtam of Greenwood Higher Secondary School finished third.
In the Sub-Junior Girls’ category, Wanloung and Tanngam of Government Middle School Phapijang secured first and second places, respectively, while Kinitoli Zhimo of Riverbelt School finished third.
According to the association, the competition was organised to provide a platform for young climbers to learn and develop their skills, while creating greater awareness of sport climbing in Nagaland and the Northeast.
