Dimapur, Dec. 17(EMN): The 1st Nagaland Film Awards, organised by Nagaland Film Festival (NFA) will be held on Dec. 28, 2021 at Urban Haat in Dimapur.
This was informed by the chairman of NFA Kashito Kiba during a press conference on Dec. 17 (Friday) at Tourist Lodge in Dimapur. He stated that the event is to give recognition trophy and achievement award to the people working in the film industry.
The NFA comprising of film directors, producers, actors, musicians, artists and technicians was formed in the year 2019 with an aim to make Nagaland as film industry in line with the outside world, he said.
Citing that they suspended the award project in 2020 due to the pandemic, he stated that this year they will identify the people who are working in the film industry with their hardwork and effort and give them recognition trophy as an encouragement to make more films.
It was informed that there will be two categories; short film and full fledge film, and the panel of judges will be from among the NFA officials.
He stressed that their target would be purely local based adding that Nagas have different tribes with their own cultural identity and “there are many avenues to promote our unique cultural identity, but there are very few people to discover an initiate the talents”.
He further opined that there are many eligible boys and girls who are fit for the film industry but they are hesitant to work in the industry despite the unemployment problems in the state. Thus, Kiba urged the young generations to not only seek for government jobs but also come forward and join NFA and start their career citing that, “film industry is a respectable and professional industry”.
‘Our target in the future is to train acting class, choreography, technical cinematography, action film making, editing and others. We are organising it with futuristic mindset as we really want to promote our Naga people to involve in film making industry,’ he added.
Kiba also informed that the next target of NFA is to produce a good tribal film in 2022, where different directors, individual technicians and producers would be collaborating.
