
Dimapur, July 23 (EMN): The 1st inter-school sports meet cum singing competition conducted by the All Private Schools' Association Longleng District (APSALD) concluded on July 23.
Deputy Commissioner of Longleng, Dharam Raj, was the special guest of the closing ceremony at Local Ground Longleng.
The DC applauded the office bearers of APSALD for organising the programme and also encouraged students to take active part in true sportsmanship. He said if students had the passion and perseverance, they could someday represent Longleng district, Nagaland and India as a whole in the future.
The competition comprised of football for boys, volleyball for boys and girls, and singing competition of solo and duet.
In the boys’ football competition, Phom Lempong School won the first prize, while Vision Vale School was awarded the second prize. For girls’ volleyball, Good Shepherd School was awarded the first prize, while Shamakok Mission School were awarded the second prize. In singing solo competition, Lilong Mukho of St. Joseph School was awarded the first prize, while Yimjungbenla Pongen of Christian School Longleng and Lichei Y Phom of Good Shepherd School were awarded second and third prizes respectively. In singing duet competition, N Journey Manhe and N Miriam Naam of St. Thomas School Tamlu were awarded first prize, and second prize were awarded to Theila and Ladong of Vision Vale School and the third prize were awarded to Tungen P Phom and Venlen A Phom of Christian School Longleng.
The chairperson for the opening ceremony was Shingmei, Asst. Teacher, Phom Lempong School, while the invocation prayer was led by Bachem Buchem, Associate Pastor for Christian Education. Special performances were presented by students from St. Joseph School Longleng and Good Shepherd School Longleng.
In the solo and duet singing competitions, Hamyep, Finance Secretary, APSALD addressed the gathering, while the invocation prayer was led by Fr. Brayan Antony D'Souza, Headmaster of St. Thomas School, Tamlu. The chairperson for the competition was Nukshila, Assistant Teacher, Christian High School, Longleng, and the vote of thanks was said by Angphen Phom, assistant teacher, Vision Vale School.
