DIMAPUR — The Department of Youth Resources and Sports organised the very first district-level youth festival in Meluri district on September 12, at Meluri village council hall.
The event was held under the initiative of the District Youth Resource Officer (DYRO), Phek, marking a new chapter in the district’s youth engagement and cultural promotion, a DIPR report stated.
DYRO Phek, Chubarenla Longchari, highlighted the significance of youth festivals in nurturing talent, promoting traditional art forms and fostering unity among young people.
She also emphasised the importance of the event being the first district-level youth festival in Meluri since it became a district.

The Festival set a promising foundation for empowering and celebrating the youth of Meluri.
The day's festivities featured declamation, folk song, and folk dance competitions. The winners in various categories are: Tsüno Venue from St. Xavier HSS Meluri (declamation); GHSS Meluri (folk song); Christian HSS Meluri (folk dance).
Earlier, Virhethsu Nyusou, graduate teacher at GHSS Meluri, invoked God's blessings and the programme was chaired by Angelo Pfithu, NSS Programme Officer at GHSS Meluri.
