Dimapur, May 6 (EMN): Golden Crown Theological College (GCTC) held its 13th graduation ceremony on May 5 in which 19 students were conferred graduation.
The scripture was read by diploma graduating students Ms Rhakuthsi Sangtam and Chenithung Jami.
Rev. Dr. Mangyang Chang, Associate State Secretary of Indian Evangelical Mission, in his message, encouraged the graduating students to affirm the call of God on their lives. ‘Just like God called Moses on Holy Ground to carry out a specific mission, so also we are all called for a hallowed mission,’ he exhorted. “If we misuse this call and follow worldly pleasures, we will be judged. If we understand the magnitude of the holiness of our call - then we will be effective for God’s ministry, Rev. Dr. Mangyang Chang said in his message.
Golden Crown Choir with conductor Avoni Odyuo, presented two songs namely ‘Prayer of St Francis’ and ‘Hallelujah Chorus.’ It was an emotional performance as the graduating students will be performing with the choir for the last time.
The valedictory speech was delivered by Ms Honily Sumi. She shared that the day marked not the end but the beginning of a new journey - new struggles and challenges. It was her dream to attend a bible college. She encouraged the students not to quit but develop a godly character saying, “there is no use being a bible school student with a stinky character.”
She drew a comparison of Bible school students with soldiers, who have to undergo tough training to the point of even wanting to quit. She however said once ‘we endure the training, we will be effective in the new journey.’
Academic award for diploma was conferred to Kirenthung Odyuo. The campus life award was bagged by Longshithung Yanthan, while the Music award was conferred on Ms Chumchilo Kikon and Ms Ebeni Kithan.
Academic Award for Bachelor in Theology was given to Ms Honily Sumi. She also got awards for Biblical Studies, Theology and Ethics, Christian Ministry, Church History, Religion and Society, General Studies, Bible Knowledge and Sermon.
The presentation of the graduates was done by Ms Jemima Assumi. The awards were presented by Rev. Dr. Nzan Odyuo, Director and Principal GCTC, and the certificates were presented by Rev. MK Dhar, Registrar and Vice-Principal GCTC.
The Act of Commissioning and prayer for the graduates was done by Rev. Daniel Shayam. Benediction was said by K Wilson Ezung, Associate Pastor, Police Baptist Church, Bhandari.
