Mokokchung, April 9 (EMN): In a setback to the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Mokokchung region, 17 office bearers of the unit on Saturday announced their resignation from both primary and active membership of the party.
Out of the 17 officials who resigned, 10 are vice presidents and one general secretary while seven of them hold the post of secretaries, this was informed at a press conference called by the resigned members at Majakong ward, Mokokchung town.
It came after the NDPP General Convention held in November 2021, wherein the reorganisation of the party in the region was supposed to take place, it was informed.
The election committee for Mokokchung region from NDPP central was deputed and a series of meetings were held, after which the consensus candidates for the region were recommended and accordingly submitted, claimed the 17 resigning members.
However, in February 2022, the appointment for the new office bearers was issued by the central office which was not in consonance with the list submitted by the election committee to the central office, they claimed.
They alleged that they decided to resign from a party following the appointment of new office bearers through backdoor, which is against the constitution of the party.
