15 shops fined for COTPA violations in Longleng

DIMAPUR — The Longleng District Enforcement Squad (DLES) team carried out surprise raids on shops in Longleng located near educational institutions on Monday under Section 4 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003.

15 shops were fined for violations, and 13 shops were penalised for not following Section 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.

The enforcement team was led by DLES team leader and EAC HQ Longleng, Dr. Samuel Akho Konyak; district nodal officer of National Tobacco Control Programme, Dr. Bongau Phom; and OC DEF Longleng, A Mar.

Later, the seized items were burned near the DC office premises.
