Neiphiu Rio and Sharingain Longkumer pay obituary tributes to departed leaders in 8th of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly session

DIMAPUR — Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday made obituary references to several departed leaders during the 8th session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly held at NLA Hall, Kohima.
Referring to the demise of Ajit Anantrao Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Rio described him as a seasoned and able leader who dedicated his life to public service and worked tirelessly for the welfare of the people of Maharashtra.
The chief minister stated that Pawar played a significant role in shaping policies in key sectors such as finance, irrigation and power.
He noted that Pawar was known as a firm decision-maker who consistently promoted economic growth in the state, according to a DIPR report.

Rio also made an obituary reference to the passing of Imkong L Imchen, former minister and sitting member of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly. He described Imchen as a bold, expressive and forthright leader who never hesitated to voice his convictions.
Highlighting Imchen’s illustrious career in public life, Rio said it was a privilege to have worked alongside him as a colleague.
He added that Imchen was a man of conviction and dedication who served his people with unwavering commitment, reflected in his deep sense of responsibility towards them.
Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, also made obituary references to four former members of the Assembly — N Kielu, Dr. Khasu Kath, P. Mongchua and Nkhao Lotha.
Longkumer described the departed leaders as hardworking and devoted individuals who sincerely worked for the welfare and uplift of their people.
He said their commitment, dedication and invaluable contributions to the people of Nagaland would be remembered with respect and gratitude.
The House observed a minute of silence in honour of the departed leaders.
