The 14th Jadonang Memorial Football Tournament will kick off on October 11 in Imphal East with 36 teams competing for top honours.

DIMAPUR — The 14th edition of the Jadonang Memorial Football Tournament, organised by the Zeliangrong Football Association (ZFA), will commence on October 11 at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Imphal East.
According to an update, the opening ceremony will be attended by Thangjam Arunkumar, MLA of 15-Wangkhei AC, as the chief guest.
Naorem Praveen Singh, secretary for YAS Manipur; Hannah Kahmei, deputy commissioner of Thoubal district; Pooja Elangbam, deputy commissioner of Bishnupur district; Mercina R Panmei, commissioner of taxes, Manipur; and Dr. Mayenbam Veto Singh, director of YAS, Manipur, will attend as guests of honour.
G Aguilung, president of the Zeliangrong Football Association (ZFA), will preside over the function. The chief host of the event will be Dinganglung Gangmei, chairman of the HAC and MLA of 54-ST Nungba AC, who is also the chairman of the organising committee.

Altogether, 36 teams and clubs from different Zeliangrong villages across the state will participate in this year’s tournament. The opening match will be played between Gaidimjang Young Association (GYA) and Ragailong Soccer-XI (RS-XI).
The winner of this year’s tournament will receive a cash prize of INR 2 lakh, and the runners-up team will receive INR 1 lakh each, along with a trophy. Other group and individual awards include “Best Disciplined Team” and “Best Parade Team” for group categories and “Best Player”, “Best Keeper”, and “Top Scorer” for individual categories.
A cash prize of INR 20,000 and INR 10,000 each, along with a trophy, will be awarded to group teams and individual players, respectively.
The organising committee has invited all football fans to join the event and mark the beginning of the season with a celebratory gathering.
