‘1,451 villages in Nagaland are open-defecation-free’

In Nagaland 1,451 villages have been declared open-defection-free (ODF) under the sanitation programme Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) till February 8 2020. This was stated in updates on the Nagaland Chief Minister’s Dashboard.

The data states that since the introduction of the Swachh Bharat Mission, 56,153 toilets were built till February 8 2020 while 1, 142 ODF villages were verified.

According to the department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, ministry of Jal Shakti, the coverage status for Nagaland way back in 2014 was below 50% at 48.73%. During the financial year 2019-20 the coverage increased to 100%.

According to the ministry, the photographs that were uploaded, funded by the Swachh Bharat

Mission, was 98% and 1, 27,369 photographs were uploaded since October 2 2014.
