School of Engineering and Technology at Nagaland University held a 21-day induction for newly admitted B.Tech students.

DIMAPUR — The School of Engineering and Technology (SET) of Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, organised a 21-day student induction programme for newly admitted B.Tech students of the 2026–27 academic session from August 12 to September 1.
The programme aimed to facilitate the transition of students from school to university and to familiarise them with the academic, professional, social, and cultural environment of the university, according to an update.
SET comprises five departments: Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Biotechnology, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Information Technology.
A total of 141 students—80 male and 61 female—from 14 states of India participated. The programme was inaugurated by Sujata Dash, Dean of SET, who highlighted interdisciplinary education, collaborative research, and innovation to address contemporary challenges such as climate change, healthcare, food security, and environmental sustainability.

The programme included orientation sessions on academic and examination rules, institutional expectations, departmental programmes, laboratories, research activities, hostel life, and residential discipline. A dedicated session on mental wellness sensitised students to emotional well-being, academic pressures, and adjustment to university life.
Industry and entrepreneurship exposure formed another component. Interactions with entrepreneurs, industry experts, and alumni introduced students to emerging technologies, professional expectations, career opportunities, and the practical application of academic knowledge. A notable session by Dhiraj Kalita, Founder and CMD of DK Tech Pvt. Ltd., Guwahati, on “Innovate, initiate and inspire” encouraged students to develop an entrepreneurial and problem-solving mindset.
Students also participated in a range of creative, technical, and cultural activities, including photography, video-making, short films, reel-making, technical quizzes, idea and pitch competitions, painting, sketching, and a traditional attire fashion show.
