Kohima, March 23 (EMN): Chief Minister Dr. Shürhozielie Liezietsu on Thursday said Nagaland currently has 14,03,579 beneficiaries under National Food Security Act (NFSA).
He stated the figure in response to an unstarred questioned raised by BJP MLA Mmhonlumo Kikon at the ongoing state assembly session. The MLA had asked the list of all the beneficiaries of all the districts along with the dates and items received by them under the Food Security Act.
The chief minister, who also holds the charge of Food & Civil Supply, replied that the list was being uploaded and linked to the state official portal
www.fcs.nagaland.gov.in. However, he stated that the dates of receipt of each item by each beneficiary was neither available in the department, nor it is feasible to be collected from the Fair Price Shops to be laid in the House, as it could be too bulky.
The MLA had also put up unstarred questions to the minister for School Education as to the amount received by the State from MHRD for RMSA, mid-day meal and SSA projects from 2014-17 and the amount released to the department by the finance department for the said projects for the same years. In reply, education minister Yitachu furnished the funds received (see table)

Earlier during the session, the MLA raised starred question to the minister for Roads & Bridges Vikheho Swu as to which firm was allotted the work for the construction of Bridge over Doyang at Governor’s Camp, Liphanyan in Wokha district, to which the minister replied that the works was allotted to M/s L Pukhato Shohe & Sons (NPW/CL-1/52).
The minister said the work was awarded for an original amount of Rs.2214.27 lakhs dated 15 March 2014 which was revised to Rs.2452.20 dated 21 November 2014. On the condition that the work should be completed within 30 months, MLA Kikon questioned reason for the delay while only 50% of the works could be completed. Swu replied that the works could not be completed due to funding constraints but assured that the work is in full progress. He also maintained that department officials as well the MLA of the area should make spot verifications so as to ensure the progress of the works.
