Dimapur Municipal Corporation (DMC) claimed that it managed to construct 12 roads in 12 months. On Tuesday, a team headed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) H. Atokhe Aye, DMC witnessed the inauguration of the 12th road project under DMC covering an area of 22, 200 sq.ft and 2062 sq.m at Bank Colony Dimapur. The road was inaugurated by Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC) Ltd Chairman Tovihoto Aye. According to DMC officials, the road in Bank Colony was lying neglected for 20 long years.
On the occasion, Tovihoto urged the civil society to show concern ‘on their properties’ with sense of belongingness. “Government works to bring development in the state but to execute the projects the support of the people is important,” said Tovihoto.
DMC CEO H Atokhe Aye talking on the occasion said the duty of the DMC is to provide basic services. He then underlined that with limited resources DMC has worked towards bringing development.
According to DMC, in 12 months’ time 12 road projects including 2 gravel roads and one cement concrete road have been constructed in and around Dimapur by DMC. The DMC has also constructed 10 RCC box culverts, 2 Hume pipe culverts, one minor bridge, 56 dustbins, 16 numbers of drain works with cover slab while 2 numbers of drain works with cover slabs are still under construction. That puts to 99 overall development works undertaken by the DMC team establishing the impossible to possible providing a friendly environment for citizens of Dimapur, claimed the DMC officials.
