DIMAPUR — The 11th edition of the football tournament, Pochury Black Day Memorial Cup, organised by the Pochury Students’ Union, concluded at the Meluri local ground on September 24.
Deputy Commissioner of Meluri, K Mhathung Tsanglao, who attended the programme as the special guest, on the occasion said that it is the biggest sporting event in the district to remember and reflect the unity of the people, stated a DIPR report.
He said that the event signifies the oneness of the Pochury tribe and stands as a solemn reminder of the region’s turbulent history and the resilience of the Pochury community.

He added that it was a time to honour the sacrifices, hardships and unwavering spirit of the forefathers by commemorating the day to ensure that the painful chapter in history is transformed into guiding principles for collective duties.
He further remarked that sports are powerful tools that mould character and values while also encouraging the youth.
