Winner to secure direct entry to Miss Nagaland
MOKOKCHUNG, AUGUST 12 (EMN) — Eleven bright, dynamic and eager-to-learn contestants aged between 18 and 22 will compete for the prestigious Miss Mokokchung 2026 crown scheduled to be held at Town Hall in Mokokchung on Aug. 14.
The pageant, organised by the Forerunners Mokokchung under the guidance of the Beauty and Aesthetic Society of Nagaland (BASN), is being held for the second consecutive year under the theme ‘Bloom Beyond Boundaries’.
Details of the event were shared at a press conference held at The Magnus Conference Hall on August 12.
Attendees included Sashinungla Nathan, the patron of Forerunners Mokokchung along with the team; Neitho Khamom Bendangienla reigning Miss Mokokchung 2025; Temsulila Longkumer, Miss Mokokchung 2025 first runner-up; Putusenla Aier, Miss Mokokchung 2025, second runner-up.
Neitho Khamo, co-founder of Novaturient Managements and Talent Foresight, a grooming institute, and Foresight Event Managements, will serve as the show director.
The competition will comprise of three rounds: Traditional and introduction round, dance routine round, and evening gown round.
HM from Shillong is the official designer for the event, while Manen Jamir of Manen Design is the local designer for the cocktail round.

The evening will feature performances by local artistes from Mokokchung, special artistes presented by the reigning queen, and the homegrown band Sariwar, which will open the show. Other performers include Ningdangri and Friends, Abdon Mech, Shau Evans, Elizabeth Khing, Tiakumla, Maongkar and Toshiwapang Imsong.
Sashila Ozukum, founder and proprietor of Hope Academy, will attend as the pageant as guest of honour, while Dr. Nochetla Tzudir, District Agriculture Officer, will be the special guest.
Pre-event judging for the talent round was conducted on Aug. 3 at Urban Hub Cafe. The Miss Talented title will be announced at the grand finale. Other subtitles include Best Ramp Walk, Miss Congeniality, Miss Photogenic, Miss Beautiful Smile, Miss Beautiful Skin and Queen of Hearts, which will be decided through public voting on social media.
Tickets priced at INR 300 for general admission, INR 2,000 for donor tickets and INR 5,000 for premium tickets will be available at the venue and Social Garden restaurant.
Although the beauty pageant industry in Nagaland remains relatively small, it is steadily gaining popularity, with organisations such as the Forerunners contributing to its growth, show director Neitho Khamo stated.
He said the pageant seeks to set standards for Mokokchung district and provide young women with a platform to speak out against societal issues and create a positive impact.
He also added that organisers are working to dispel misconceptions surrounding the industry by highlighting success stories in fields such as aviation and beauty, as well as the participants’ involvement in ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ projects.
It was announced that the winner of Miss Mokokchung 2026 will gain direct entry into the Miss Nagaland competition, while both runners-up will have the opportunity to audition for it. The public has been urged to vote for their favourite contestant for the Queen of Hearts title on the Instagram handle @forerunnersmokokchung.
The show will begin at 6:00 pm.
