KOHIMA — A total of 109 stolen mobile handsets have been recovered in Nagaland as of December 28, 2025, through Sanchar Saathi, a digital safety initiative of the department of Telecommunications (DoT) under the Ministry of Communications.
Official data shows that out of 866 mobile phones reported lost or stolen in the state, 629 were traced and 109 recovered, recording a recovery rate of 17.33%.
Across the country, 43,63,274 stolen mobile phones have been blocked, 27,04,667 traced, and 7,72,450 recovered so far. Telangana and Karnataka continue to top the list of recoveries with 1,10,165 and 1,09,757 handsets recovered respectively.
Sanchar Saathi uses advanced technology to prevent the misuse of blocked devices. When a SIM card is inserted into a reported handset, the system triggers alerts to the registered user and the concerned police station, aiding quicker recovery.
