Kohima, Feb. 22 (EMN): The executive director of Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC), V Atsi Dolie, formally released the “100 Angami Bible Dictionary” and offered the dedicatory prayer at the ABCC conference hall in Kohima on Tuesday. The dictionary was compiled and authored by Rokolhuto Pier, retired additional secretary of Nagaland Secretariat Service.
Altogether, the dictionary has some abbreviations and alphabets with 101 words along with names of 155 people and about 100 words listing the names of some places, countries, provinces, mountains, seas etc., from the Bible.
Pier compiled them after going through with English Bible dictionaries like The Concise Bible Dictionary, The New Compact Bible Dictionary USA and The New Bible Dictionary IVF London besides Tenyidie Bible 1970, 2002 and 2011.
Speaking at the event, Dolie expressed happiness that Pier had done commendable work as a lexicographer and came up with a dictionary based on the Bible. He anticipated that with the availability of a reference book in Tenyidie on Bible, it would benefit people in meeting the requirements of readers.
Stressing on the importance of understanding the words of God precisely, Dolie hoped that the Bible dictionary would serve its purpose and also glorified the name of Almighty God.
Pier narrated how he began reading and compiling words before bringing out the book during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, which was enforced in the state in 2020.
“If one has to promote one's language and dialect to others in the form of a book, then the person must do so using simple and easy words,” he said.
Ketholezo Ha, director of Angami Christian Literature Service, informed that the retired official loves studying and has been contributing to "Angami Mission Dielie" regularly with his write-ups. He also lauded Pier for bringing out the dictionary after making thorough research.
The Bible dictionary is priced at INR 200 and would be made available at TU Building, near NST Bus Stand in Kohima.
