Lower Bayavü Giants, High School daredevils enter final

Lower Bayavü Giants downed North Block Warriors by 20 runs and advanced to the final of the 10 Northern Angami-1 T20 Bash 2016 played at Kohima village ground.
Winning the toss, the Giants elected to bat and scored 155 runs after the match was reduced to 15 overs. A calculated and superb inning from Ato 56 (25) carried the Giants to a desirable total, following which the North Block Warriors failed in the run chase. Ato was well supported by Depebe who also contributed 29 runs from 20 balls.
Chasing the target, the warriors at one hand looked like they would turn the match, but the Giants’ bowlers responded well to restrict them at 135, with the fall of eight wickets. Depebe, Thungchamo and Sengulie were the leading wicket takers for the Giants as all of them claimed two wickets each. As for the Warriors, Wabang, who scored 46 runs in just 28 balls, was not enough as they failed short of the target by 20 runs. The man of the match for the first semifinal was awarded to Ato for his match winning inning.In the second semifinal, High School Daredevils also overcame T. Khel Knights to make it to the final. With the win, Daredevils will take on Giants in the final on April 6 (Tuesday) at 11 am.
The daredevils elected to bat and scored 160 runs with the fall of one wicket. Daredevils’ Anga 70 (N.O) from 48 balls almost single handedly turned the match to his team’s favour. Anga was handsomely supported by Inito who scored 49 runs from 33 balls.
Making the chase, the Knights found themselves on the receiving end as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Imli of Knights anchored the innings after 74 runs from 43 balls, but couldn’t guide his team to reach the target. Keviselhou Sekhose of Knights also scored 31 runs from 13 balls. The daredevils won by 14 runs.
The man of the match for the second semifinal was awarded to Anga.
