Dimapur, April 6 (EMN): Dimapur police have arrested 10 persons in the past one week from different locations in Dimapur for involving in various criminal activities. A press release from the Additional Commissioner of Police and PRO, Dimapur, stated that the accused persons have been booked and undergoing investigations.
Dimapur police apprehended two persons identified as Zhutovi Yeptho (54) of Rotomi village under Zunheboto district and resident of Sematilla, and Hokuzha Zhimomi (57) of Sastomi village under Zunheboto district and resident of Xuvihe colony on April 6.
They were arrested for demanding cash of INR 10,000 from Reliance Petrol Pump located at Clock Tower, Dimapur, in the name of NSCN (IM). The release stated that cash amount of INR 10,000 was recovered from their possession adding case in this connection has been registered at West Police Station.
On April 5, Dimapur police also apprehended one person identified as Bappa Ghosh, of Bardhaman village in West Bengal and resident of Power House Colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur, for collecting illegal tax in the name of NSCN (IM) from vegetables vendors at Rail Bazaar Dimapur.
It stated that case in this connection has been registered at Sub-Urban Police Station.
On April 4, Dimapur police arrested four persons for illegally extorting money from the business community near Liberty Hotel located at Church Road, Dimapur.
The accused persons were identified as Nuklo Pongen (36) of Longsa village in Mokokchung district and resident of Padampukhuri, Dominic Lotha (32) of Akuk village in Wokha district and resident of 5th Mile near Bamboo Resort Centre, Yeshika Yeptho (28) of Rotomi village in Zunheboto district and resident of 5th Mile Sugar Mill Colony, and Shelvin Sankhil (37) Lamrinku village in Chandel district and resident of Erani Bill near Sumi Baptist Church.
Police recovered cash amount of INR 65,000, demand list and six nos of letter head of NSCN (IM). It stated that case has been registered at Dimapur East Police Station.
On the same day, Dimapur police along with IRB and CAPF personnel arrested one person identified as Ghokivi (21) of Hovishe village and resident of Lhomthi Colony from Hazi Park for collecting illegal tax from autorickshaw drivers in the name of NSCN (R).
Police recovered cash amount of INR 1,48,800, and one mobile phone containing pictures of demand slip of NSCN (R) from his possession. Case in this connection has been registered at Dimapur East Police Station.
On April 2, Dimapur police also apprehended one person identified as Mokul Ali (45) of Mirgapur village in Karimganj, Assam, and resident of Zeliangrong colony, Dhobinalla, for extorting money from the footpath vendors at New Market area in the name of NSCN (IM).
Police recovered cash amount of INR 1950 from his possession. Case in this connection has been registered at Dimapur East Police Station.
On April 1, Dimapur police apprehended one person identified as Mughato Chishi (38) of Bothimo village in Zunheboto district and resident of Sunrise Colony, Burma Camp, for collecting illegal tax in the name of NSCN (IM) from the pickup drivers carrying vegetables Burma Camp area.
Police recovered cash amount of INR 300 from his possession. The release stated that case has been registered at Dimapur East Police Station.
