1 Nagaland Battalion NCC commemorates 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ by organising special programme in Kohima.

DIMAPUR — Commemorating 150 years of the national song ‘Vande Mataram,’ 1 Nagaland Battalion NCC, Kohima, organised a special programme on November 18 near the NST bus station in Kohima.
An update from the 1 Nagaland Battalion NCC stated that the programme was organised as a road show, designed to present a meaningful and patriotic spectacle for passersby and the public.
It stated that a total of 45 NCC cadets from St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Jalukie, performed ‘Vande Mataram’ and presented a band display, showcasing discipline, coordination and reverence to the nation’s heritage. It added that their performance was appreciated by the onlookers.

The programme was attended by the Group Commander of NCC Group HQ, Kohima, Brigadier SP Mainker, whose presence added significance to the celebration.
It further stated that the battalion organised the event to honour an important milestone rooted in India’s freedom movement and to inspire the youth to uphold the values of unity, dedication and national service.
