Village council chairmen form new forum in Chümoukedima

• DIMAPUR — The village council chairmen under Rural Development (RD) Chümoukedima Block met at the DC conference hall on Wednesday under the chairmanship of the block development officer (BDO), RD Chümoukedima Block, Sashirenla Imchen.

• They discussed various issues related to the development of the villages and the schemes introduced by the Ministry of Rural Development, according to an update. Seventeen of the 23 council chairmen under the RD Block attended the emergency meeting convened by the BDO.

• The house decided to form a Forum of the Village Council Chairmen, RD Chümoukedima Block, to address issues relating to the interests of the villages under the RD Block.

• It was also unanimously decided to dissolve any existing Village Development Board (VDB) secretary association under the said block henceforth and to direct all VDB secretaries under its jurisdiction to disassociate from any existing association of VDB secretaries in the district or state.

• The house also resolved to ask the RD department not to take any punitive action against the Kacharigoan/Phevima Village Council for raising the pull-back issue with the media.

• It was stated that it would not tolerate the council being discriminated against or deprived of any due share of developmental schemes because of using social media to air their grievances.
