Zunheboto relatively a Covid ‘safe zone’

Dimapur, Aug. 11 (EMN): With detection of 57 Covid-19 positive cases out of the total 3999 samples in 35 testing facilities across the district during the last nine days, Zunheboto district is now relatively a ‘safe zone.’

This was disclosed by the deputy chief medical officer of Zunheboto, Dr Akaho Sema, while presenting detailed report on the current Covid situation in the district during the monthly meeting of the district planning and development board (DPDB) held in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office in Zunheboto on August 11.

Dr. Akaho informed that the department has now intensified sample testing by installing 35 testing facilities across the district. He informed that out of the total 3999 samples tested in the last nine days, 57 samples tested positive which stands at 1.4% and termed it a relatively safe zone. He added that the team planned to administer 1000 samples for testing in the coming 20 days, a DIPR report stated on Wednesday.

He also informed the members that so far 42855 doses of vaccination have been administered. He also informed that 13 villages in the district have been totally vaccinated. He concluded by saying that 15% of the eligible population were yet to be vaccinated.

The meeting, held under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner and DPDB vice chairman, Peter Lichamo, discussed the forthcoming 75th Independence Day celebration in the district. The DC also distributed works to be carried up by different departments.

The board also deliberated on including reconstitution of the aspiration block.
