Dimapur, May 30 (EMN): With the declaration of 2019 as the ‘Year of Plantation’ and to encourage the public to participate in the World Environment Day programme on June 5, Wakching Town Students’ Union (WTSU) led by its president, Yonglong Chemshe, and other office bearers visited all the schools in Wakching headquarters and distributed tree saplings for plantation in their respective schools.
Tree saplings were issued to Wakching Town Baptist Church, Wakching Village Baptist Church, and Wakching Chingla Baptist Church. The union also distributed the tree saplings to all the houses in Wakching headquarters and Lampong Wakching village.
The union has announced award to the best school for plantation in the following year.
Meanwhile, the union has thanked Jeiang Konyak, Forest-I Kohima Division; Minwing Konyak, Forester-I Dimapur division; and Yongwe Wumnok, DCO, Kiphire; for their valuable help rendered towards the union for realisation of the programme.
