Dimapur, Aug. 13 (EMN): Two persons including one Assam Rifles personnel and a civilian were injured in a grenade explosion reportedly lobbed by suspected insurgent cadres near Chenloisho village in Mon district on August 12 at around 5 pm.
According to a report from the additional superintendent of police and PRO of Mon DEF, Longpoksang Lemtur, suspected cadres lobbed three grenades on an excavator (JCB) belonging to ‘D’ Coy of 28 Assam Rifles in the vicinity of Chenloisho village. While two grenades failed to detonate, the explosion of other grenade caused injuries to one Assam Rifles personnel and a civilian identified as Kaipa Konyak (60) of Chenloisho village.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=6]Report also stated that the injured persons were rushed to the medical facility located within the Assam Rifles camp, who were reported out of danger. They were further shifted to the District Hospital in Mon town.
According to report, the incident happened when a team of ‘D’ Coy of 28 Assam Rifles along with the JCB was assisting the local residents to clear the road at a place called Thromjan, which is located between Chenloisho and Wangti villages.
It further stated that a police team had rushed to the spot and investigation was underway.
