TSEMINYU — Tseminyu Tsipwen Kecho Logwa (TTKL) won the overall championship of the first edition of the Rengma Sports Association (RSA) Mini-Olympic on Saturday at the RSA ground in Tseminyu.
During the ten-day sporting event, which featured seven ranges, the team won 44 medals, including 17 gold, 14 silver, and 13 bronze. Kasha Daho Sports Association came in second with 29 medals, including 12 gold, 11 silver, and 6 bronze, followed by Phengshunyu Lowjvu Sports Association with 9 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze.
Tesophenyu Group Sports Association got 4 gold, 7 silver and 11 bronze; Kandi Sports Association secured 4 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze; Tsogin Range Sports Association got 1 gold, 3 silver and 7 bronze; and Kithagha Sports Association secured a silver and a bronze.
Kandi Sporst Association won the football final against Kasha Daho Sports Association 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Kvulo Lorin, chairman of Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation Limited (NIDC) and director of Tetso College in Sovima, attended the valedictory function as the special guest.
Lorin lauded the various Rengma athletes who had won honours for the state and community during his speech and stated that the current government is committed to youth empowerment in sports, music, and the arts. He also encouraged the people to work together, put their trust in God, and strive through meritocracy.
Rohit Singh, deputy commissioner of Tseminyu and chairman of the District Sports Council, commended the athletes for showcasing their sporting skills on the occasion and added that sports serve as a metaphor for life.
Earlier, GK Rengma, president of RSA, delivered a brief presentation, highlighting the various activities and initiatives undertaken by the RSA.
The ten-day-long RSA Mini-Olympics featured over 400 sportspeople representing the Kasha Daho Sports Association, Kithagha Sports Association, Tseminyu Tsipwen Kecho Logwa, Kandi Sports Association, Tesophenyu Group Sports Association, Tsogin Range Sports Association, and Phengshunyu Lowjvu Sports Association.
