DIMAPUR — Tiasola, topper of Nagaland General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) from School of Nursing, District Hospital Dimapur (DHD), was conferred 20th Lt. Mrs Ketsovole Kire’s award.
The award was given during the 6th graduation-cum-Lt. Mrs Ketsovole Kire’s 20th Award ceremony held on Tuesday at Chapel hall, DHD, where 53 students were awarded graduation certificate.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vibeituonuo M Sachu, principal director of Health and Family Welfare, reminded the students on the noble profession of nursing. She stated that nursing profession is about providing care to people who cannot care for themselves.
While emphasising on the immense responsibility bestowed upon the nursing community, she urged upon the graduates deliver services whatever they have learnt. She called upon them to be ambassadors of health and give awareness campaign everywhere they go.
She also reminded them to always remain cheerful while providing their service to the patients. Stating that certain illness could be prevented with proper awareness, she encouraged the nursing community to always search for opportunities to give counseling to those in need of such services.
She further reminded them to remember the pledge they took every day while carrying out their duties. She also encouraged them to serve mankind with humanity, empathy and have a human touch in all the services they do.
The eldest daughter of late Ketsovole Kire, Marlyn Sale, in a short speech, shared about her mother’s life journey before passing away 21 years ago. She shared that her mother received the nursing certificate in 1942 and took voluntary retirement in 1962.
She informed that the award in memory of her mother started in 2002. She, however, stated the award was discontinued for two years due to COVID-19 pandemic. She added that her family would continue to support this noble profession.
To the students, she encouraged them to continue with the noble profession knowing that God would reward them for their good works. She further requested the nurses to continue show affection and love to the patients who come to them for help.
Meanwhile, Tiasola expressed that she was humbled to receive the reward. She also encouraged her fellow friends to remain steadfast in delivering healthcare services to the public.
