The Combat Academy wins medals at national championship

DIMAPUR — The Combat Academy (TCA) from Nagaland won a gold medal, one silver, and two bronze medals at the recently concluded Mixed Martial Arts National Championship held during The Fit Expo 2023 at Milan Mela, Kolkata from December 1 to the 3^rd.

The championship was held under the banner of the All India Mixed Martial Arts Federation (AIMMAF).

Altogether five athletes from TCA participated at the event including Lichonthung Odyuo, Akivito H Yeptho, Abemo Ezung, Neichulie Kuotsu and Thanmi Angkang.

Lichonthung secured gold in the Bantamweight category while Akivito H Yeptho secured silver in the same category.

Both Akivito and Lichonthung made it to the finals of the bantamweight division and the teammates, in good spirit, decided the winner with a game of 'rock, paper, scissors,' according to an update from the TCA.

Thanmi lost via decision during the semi-finals and secured the bronze medal in the Flyweight division, while Neichulie had to opt out of his bout in the Lightweight category semi-finals due to an elbow injury during a match and secured the bronze medal, the update stated.
