DIMAPUR — The seed sowing festival of the Tangkhuls, Luira Phanit, which also signifies the transition from leisure to the commencement of the busy agrarian season, was celebrated at the Stone Park, NEZCC, Diphupar on March 8.

According to a press release, General (retired) VS Atem, deputy ato kilonser, NSCN/GPRN, attended the celebration as the chief guest and performed the traditional act of invoking blessings for a bountiful harvest.

The main highlight of the day was a song competition on Lungchan Laa, a duet traditionally sung during courting. Also, both young and old participated in the Hao Laa, traditional folk songs sung during seed sowing time.

It also included competitions such as cultural wear, folk songs, and tug-of-war.
