DIMAPUR — A total of 20 students from Kohima, who are on a ten-day National Integration Tour (NIT) organised by the Assam Rifles, interacted with Meghalaya Governor, Phagu Chauhan, at Raj Bhavan in Shillong on Wednesday.
A defence release stated that the governor highlighted the significance of national integration and mentioned that young people play an important role towards building a strong and united India. He also encouraged the children to pursue their dreams and make the most of their educational opportunities.
During interaction, the governor appreciated the spirit and ideology of army working towards the uplift and betterment of the populace in remote region of India.
He further wished all the students a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
It informed that the NIT would culminate on December 22.
Another team of students from Nagaland comprising 20 students and three teachers, who are on National Integration Tour (NIT) to Kolkata from December 15 to the 17, witnessed military tattoo show as part of Vijay Diwas celebration, which included display of Indian air force fighters, transport aircrafts, helicopters, weapons and equipment display.
The students visited Science City, Birla Planetarium, Alipore Museum, Alipore Zoo, St. Paul Cathedral, Victoria Memorial, Howrah Bridge and Vidhyasagar Setu, where they gained an insight into the rich Indian history and architecture as well as cultural, technological and artistic evolution.
It also provided a window into diverse engineering methods and aesthetic principles across different eras.
Further to experience the cosmopolitan culture, the students visited the City Centre Mall, which provided them a vibrant array of diverse cultures, showcasing traditional handicrafts and culinary delights. They also be watched a movie ‘Sam Bahadur’ at a multiplex which showcased the different facets of a soldiers life and provided a brief insight into the leadership qualities of Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw.
