Dimapur, Sep. 12 (EMN): The Voice of ENPO, a WhatsApp group of likeminded people reached out to the stranded people of Kiphire district and Tobu village in Mon district on Wednesday .
The team reached Kiphire district on Sep. 12 and handed 400 bags of rice to the Deputy Commissioner Kiphire Mohammed Ali Shibab IAS in the presence of his colleagues, United Sangtam Likhum Pümji (USLP), United Sangtam Students Conference (USSC) and wards chairmen.
The group was led by convenor of Voice of ENPO, Chankei, co-convenor Dr. Angto Phom; Hongkam Phom, and KV John along with well-wishers.
Dr. Angto Phom who is currently a doctor at Naga Hospital Kohima, told Eastern Mirror that because of the road condition two trucks took three days to reach Kiphire.
The team also donated 99 bags of rice along with other essential commodities for Tobu village. Phom said the team was supposed to donate 100 bags of rice with essential commodities but one bag fell off on the way because of the road condition.
According to Phom, the Voice of ENPO and well-wishers had tied up with the group to offer support to the areas that have been cut off by the unexpected natural disaster by massive landslides and sinking of road about 8 kms from Meluri area.
The District Hospital (DH) Kiphire and Community Health Centre (CHC) Tobu have extended gratitude to the Voice of ENPO team and well wishers for extending aid.
The team led by Changkei, Dr. Angto and KV John said the ‘help Kiphire’ fund drive was initiated through their Whatsapp group ‘Voice of ENPO’ in July to support Kiphire district.
‘With the encouraging response received from the Voice of ENPO and well wishers, the team could have come this far. One truck with 100 bags of rice was sent to Tobu town on Sep. 11. and two trucks loaded with 400 bags of rice were sent to Kiphire on Sep. 10 but reached on Sep. 12 due to sudden landslide.
We thought our mission would be incomplete without our presence there in Kiphire when the consignment reached so we decided to go ahead and we get on on this journey of hope and completed our mission where we realised that together we can do many things’, shared the team to Eastern Mirror.
