Schools asked to provide requirements of students

DIMAPUR — Expounding on the importance of education in the present era, advisor of Tribal Affairs and Election, Tovihoto Ayemi, has urged the educational institutions to equip themselves and also provide all the requirements of students.

Ayemi stated this during the silver jubilee celebration of Rev. Anache Memorial Mission School (RIMMS) in Thahekhü village on Saturday. Describing the period of student life as the most important stage of a human life, he encouraged the teachers and parents to promote education.

He informed that in Nagaland, there are about 1900 government schools and about 500 private schools, whereas there are more students in private schools.

He lamented that the state is currently facing a difficult time with the increase in drop-out percentage coupled with the issue of alcohol and drugs. In this context, he urged the school authorities to be equipped with knowledge to control the students from indulging in such activities.

Besides bookish and theoretical knowledge, Ayemi also urged the school authorities to provide the students with valuable inputs to enable them become responsible citizens in the near future.

While urging the parents to be resourceful in nurturing their children, he advised them not to put sole responsibility on the teachers but work together for all round development of the children.

Earlier, Ayemi also unveiled the bell tower of RIMMS, while the dedicatory prayer was said by Rev. Pughoto Sema, executive secretary of WSBAK.
