DIMAPUR — The handing and taking over charge of the new team of Phom Peoples' Council (PPC) was held at its headquarters in Longleng town on January 6.
The new team for the tenure 2024-2026 would be led by YB Angam as president, Mailu Phom, NT Thamlong Phom and C Bhupei Phom as vice presidents, L Hamyei Angh as general secretaries along with Chinglau Phom from Namching zone, B Chingshauh Phom from Tamlu zone, S Namshing Phom from Longleng zone, L Pangnau Phom from Sakshi zone, B Chingmei Phom from Kohima and Dimapur zone and Y Henmei Phom from Yongnyah zone as zonal secretaries.
It also elected T Laknyei Phom as assistant financial secretary, YB Chingmei Francis Phom as information and publicity secretary and A Mane Phom as legal advisor.
The advisory board members are Rev. Dr. L Anjo Keikung, Dr. Y Nuklu Phom, N Metpong Phom, Pukyong Phom, Dr. Anungla Imdong, H Leisha Phom, P Chingan Phom, M Shami Angh, B Henok Buchem, N Shauhong Phom and Longting.
While exhorting the members, N Metpong Phom, former minister, urged to maintain unity among the people and the team. He called upon the new team to render yeomen service for the uplift of the community and work in unity and stands together in every problem that might face.
In a short speech, M Shami Angh highlighted some achievements made under his leadership, while the incoming president, YB Angam, assured to serve the organisation in his full capacity to achieve the dreams and goals of the people.
An update from the organisation stated that installation of the newly elected officials was dedicated by Rev. H Beaü Phom, pastor of Longleng Town Baptist Church.
