Dimapur, Aug. 10 (EMN): Paipijang village in Dimapur has imposed total lockdown in the colony from August 10 to the 13th as a precautionary measure, informed the village chairman.

He informed that even though there are no positive cases in the village, the council has decided to keep a strict vigilance on residential movement as not everyone is adhering to social distancing guidelines.

The total lockdown is implemented for the 300 households from 5 am to 7 pm, but all vehicular movements passing through the village will be allowed, the chairman informed.

"Most of the residents were not following social distancing rules or wearing masks so we implemented this four-day lockdown as a preventive measure," the chairman said, adding that neighbouring colonies already have positive cases, hence the decision.

The Paipijang road is a lifeline to many residents of Dimapur as it connects with Nagarjan on one side and the highway on the other, he said while informing that vehicles will be allowed to ply.

"It is confined to the residents of Paipijang village as of now; council will decide in future what other fair measures can be taken to contain the virus," said the chairman.
