Dimapur, Aug. 10 (EMN): NSCN (IM) has accused Nagaland Governor, RN Ravi of violating the ceasefire ground rules (CFGR) by involving in law and order using the state machinery.
Stating that it has a judiciary department to handle any case when approached for fair delivery of justice, the NSCN (IM) accused the governor of involving in a case where one Urimilla J Mech was the focus of controversy.
The group claimed through a statement that appellants Supong Ao and Sungjemtoshi Aier had approached the Union Territory (UT), GPRN, to lodge a complaint against Mech who had allegedly duped them of a huge amount of money which was allegedly given to her on loan after she mortgaged her plot of land. It was under the circumstance that the UT, GPRN stepped in to deliver justice.
“As the investigation proceeded, it was revealed that Urimilla was a woman of deceptive and deceitful character. But throughout the process of investigation she was never mishandled or unfairly treated,” it stated.
It also claimed that she filed a FIR at the East Police Station, Dimapur, with unfounded allegations against UT officials, even leading to the arrest of innocent appellants Supong Ao and Sungjemtoshi Aier and causing unnecessary harassment to NSCN members attached with UT.
It went on to add that the factual status of Mech against UT was notified to the chairman of CFMG, GoI, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Amarjeet Singh Bedi to clarify that the NSCN had in no way violated the ceasefire ground rules when CFMG questioned the Cease Fire Monitoring Cell (CFMC), NSCN of violating CFGRs by UT personnel in the case.
"Justice must prevail but without criminalising the Naga issue with vested interests," stated the press release.
