DIMAPUR — A team from the North East Working Journalists' Union (NEWJU) conducted a coordination meeting with members of the Kohima Press Club (KPC) on Tuesday at the KPC office in Kohima.

According to an update, the team was led by its president, Ratul Borah and included advisor Sumesh Deka and assistant general secretaries Jitu Kalita and Narayan Bahadur.

Highlighting the purpose of the meeting, Deka stated that Northeastern states must unite through journalism. Citing the ethnic problems in the region, he emphasised that journalists should collaborate, work together, and collectively address the challenges they face.

Noting that journalists are non-violent individuals and that the Northeastern states are interconnected as brothers and sisters, he extended an invitation to members of the Kohima Press Club to join the forum. Further, asserting that collaborative efforts can address many existing problems, he also discussed the importance of working together for the welfare of journalists in the region.

He expressed hope that the members would continue to cooperate, and he was particularly pleased to see the female strength of working journalists in Nagaland.

Meanwhile, Borah, in his remark, emphasised the importance of regional journalists banding together to address common issues such as the pension scheme, among others.

Kalita and Bahadur also spoke on the occasion and the president of KPC, Alice Yhoshü, expressed solidarity and support for the NEWJU.
