Mokokchung, Aug. 21 (EMN):
Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), Sharingain Longkumer asserted that “unless the district administration is digitally empowered, the constituencies digital empowerment does not make any sense.”

Longkumer stated this while inaugurating the upgraded conference hall of the ADC (Planning)’s office into a modernised digital conference hall in Mokokchung town on Saturday as the special guest in the presence of DPDB chairman and minister Tongpang Ozukum, DC Mokokchung, and other top officials.

Longkumer recalled that the idea for a modernised digital conference room was conceptualised during the tenure of the then deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, Rajesh Soundararajan. He added the need for a modernised conference hall was felt more due to the ongoing Covid pandemic where meetings/ decisions have to be made through video conferencing besides conducting the DPDP meeting through video conferencing.

While informing that the concept for a modernised digital conference hall was only 80 percent completed, he requested the DPDB chairman to incorporate the deputy commissioner’s dashboard to ensure transparency, accountability and reach out information to other parts of the district.

He further credited the success of the upgraded conference hall to the endorsement of the Planning minister, Neiba Kronu, finance commissioner and the collective efforts of the officers in Mokokchung.

Also speaking at the programme, Tongpang Ozukum lauded the Planning minister and other officers particularly then DPDB chairman of Mokokchung, Sharingain Longkumer, for his initiation and persuasion to convert into a modernised digital conference hall.

The deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir, in his introductory note, stated that the digitalised conference hall has been an urgent requirement of the district administration and was approved by DPDB in September 2019. He acknowledged the former DPDB chairman of Mokokchung, Sharingain Longkumer, for his initiative towards achieving a digital conference hall.

He added that the ADC (Planning) conference hall is the most highly equipped among the 12 districts in the state.

The new conference hall can now accommodate online training and seminars without moving out of the district for governmental programmes and activities. It is also linked with the NIC network.
