DIMAPUR — An online ‘train the trainer’ programme on financial literacy for the teachers of class 9 was held on March 5 and 6, while the same training for the teachers of class 10 is being conducted on March 7 and 8.
A DIPR report stated that 364 teachers of class 9 participated in the training and 287 teachers of class 10 are undergoing the two-day training.
The training is being conducted by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), in collaboration with NSE Academy Limited (NAL).
Malhar Majumder is the resource person of the training. Currently, he is a partner and promoter of investaffairs.com, visiting faculty of IBS, Kolkata, and various other management institutions and director of Investaffairs Futuristic Pvt. Ltd and Pastel Entertainments and Media Pvt. Ltd., and working in close conjunction with NSE.
In her welcome address, NBSE chairperson, Asano Sekhose, urged the teachers to be receptive and learn the components of financial literacy in all details from the resource person so that the course could be meaningfully transacted to the students.
She also emphasised the importance of financial literacy for everyone, regardless of background of students, educators or others.
Report stated the resource person dwelled on topics such as money, income and expense, financial planning, banks, making budget etc. to class 9 teachers and saving and investments, loans and borrowing, insurance, mutual funds, financial markets etc. to the class 10 teachers.
It stated that NBSE in collaboration with NAL has been imparting financial literacy course at the secondary level since 2016.
The course called ‘Concepts of financial literacy has been designed by NSE Academy, which would help students in familarising about the basics of finance and financial planning and acquire an essential life skill which everyone needs irrespective of jobs, profession, rich or poor in order to make their life better through management of the financial resources available at their discretion.
It added that NBSE and NSE Academy had so far imparted the course to more than 1.5 lakh students in a structured manner. Besides, the board is working to make the course more accessible to all students and it was made compulsory for all the students of classes 9 and 10 of the registered schools under the NBSE since 2023 academic session.
