DIMAPUR — Highlighting success stories from the eastern part of Nagaland, Deputy Labour Commissioner and CEO of Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board (NBOCWWB), T Chubayanger, has stressed the importance of replacing migrant workers with local forces in order to address unemployment and ensure transition of local workers.
He stated this during the launch programme of the NBOCWWB documentary videos at the conference hall of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) on Wednesday. Chubayanger delivered a brief history of NBOCWWB and its efforts to bring social security advantages to the workforce.
He stressed the importance of replacing migrant workers with local forces by highlighting success stories from the eastern part of Nagaland. Besides, Chubayanger expressed the need to address unemployment and ensure a transition to local workers, stated a DIPR report.
The director of IPR, Dzüvinuo Theünuo, commended the collaboration between the IPR department and NBOCWWB in promoting the welfare of migrant workers. She emphasised the significant role of storytellers in bringing societal issues to light.
The director launched the documentary videos titled "Building dreams: Journey of Naga construction workers," directed by Kivini Shohe of Riverrocks Films and "All in a day’s work," directed by Sesino Yhoshu of Takeone Production House.
Meanwhile, SesinoYhoshu shared a producer's perspective on "immigrant workers engaged in Nagaland in the building and other construction sectors." She expressed gratitude to the department of Information and Public Relations and NBOCWWB for providing the opportunity to produce documentaries that narrate the stories of immigrant workers.
Sesino acknowledged that the film showcased the often-overlooked contributions of undocumented and unregistered workers in building the homes in society.
It mentioned that the documentary titled "All in a day’s work" delved into the personal stories and everyday lives of immigrant construction workers by highlighting the indomitable human spirit to survive.
