DIMAPUR — Nagaland House in Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra would be made operational after 13 years of completion of the building.
This was announced by the chairman of Committee on Government Assurances of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Kuzholuzo Nienu, after making a ‘spot verification’ to the Nagaland House in Navi Mumbai on November 6 and 7. The chairman was accompanied by MLA G Ikuto; chief engineer of PWD (Housing), Hozheto; officials from PWD and NLA secretariat, stated an update from NLA secretariat.
It stated that the team held a high-level meeting with the chief secretary of Maharashtra, Manoj Saunik; principal secretary of Environment department and chairman of Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority, Pravin Darade; including vice chairman and managing director, Anil Digikar; City Industrial Development Co-operation and joint managing director, Dr. Kailas Shinde.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]During the meeting, it was made clear that the Nagaland House building is now outside the Coastal Regulation Zone as per the new Coastal Zone Management Plan 2019 and could be occupied any time if it is a fit case for occupation.
Report stated that it had taken more than 13 years because of the non-availability of occupational certificate from Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation as the land fell under the Coastal Regulation Zone.
Meanwhile, the Committee thanked the Maharashtra government and the abovementioned persons for their cooperation in resolving the long standing issue. It further mentioned that the Nagaland House in Navi Mumbai would go a long way in saving and improving the lives of many Nagas, who have been facing many hardships and untold miseries in Mumbai.
