DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor, La. Ganesan, has urged everyone to reflect on the shared values of unity, resilience and progress and remember the contributions of the people from Bihar who have found a second home in Nagaland, contributing not only to the economy but strengthening of bond as fellow citizens of the great country.
He stated this during the celebration of Bihar state foundation day with the Bihari community of Nagaland at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan in Kohima. During the programme, a greeting message from the Governor of Bihar, Rajendra Vishwanatha Arlekar, was conveyed through video presentation, an update from Raj Bhavan stated.
Ganesan stated that the celebration is a manifestation of the unity in diversity that is the very fabric of the nation. He added that the central idea of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ was to recognise, respect and revel in the rich tapestry of cultures that adorn the country and that each one is vital to the integrity of the nation.
He stated that the relationship between Bihar and Nagaland, though geographically distant, is deeply interwoven through the threads of economic and social exchanges. He added that Biharis have been instrumental in contributing to the economy of Nagaland, bringing with them their hard work, skills and entrepreneurial spirit.
“From agriculture to education, infrastructure development to commerce, their participation has been invaluable. Bihari farmers, educators, professionals and traders have not only shared their expertise but have also adopted Nagaland as their home, dedicating their lives to its development,” the governor said.
The secretary to governor, Rajesh Soundararajan, delivered the opening remarks, while the deputy commissioner of Kohima, Kumar Ramikant, gave a speech on Bihar state.
The highlights of the programme included poetry recitation, Bihari folk songs and dances and patriotic songs.
