Nagaland Deputy CM Y Patton holds virtual seminar on district rural roads

Dimapur, Aug. 13 (EMN): The government of Nagaland aims at maintaining more than a dozen roads as part of activities to be taken up during the yearlong “Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” to commemorate India’s 75th year of independence.

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton, who is also in-charge of PWD (R&B) department, stated this in an update on Friday.

It was informed that the deputy CM on Friday had a virtual meeting which was attended by E-n-C, PWD (R&B), and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) officials at his residence in Kohima.

An initiative of the National Rural Infrastructure Development Agency under Ministry of Rural Development, “Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” will kick start on Aug. 15 and culminate on the same date in 2022, during which public awareness on achievements of PMGSY schemes will be imparted, it added.

“Four important activities that includes participation of the stakeholders, maintenance drive on 7500 roads pan India which will be held in the month of October this year where our state aims at maintaining 20 roads, launching of information booklet of PMGSY roads connecting 75 sites of historical importance which will be held in the month of December at national level, and formal winding up of PMGSY- 1 and PMGSY- 2 in the month of August 2022, at the village councils level,” read the update issued by Dy. CMO media cell.

Patton expressed hope that the members of parliament, elected representatives, District administration, village councils, NGOs and the stakeholders will actively participate for smooth conduct and success of the yearlong programme, for which the department has nominated district nodal officers to co-ordinate with the stakeholders.

He also invited everyone to partake in the celebration which will start from Peren, Zunheboto, Wokha, Tuensang, Zunheboto and Phek district headquarters on Sunday, August 15.
