Dimapur, Aug. 21 (EMN): Naga civil society organisations from Burma (now Myanmar) have urged the Nagas from all walks of life to remain vigil and united to ensure that they don’t “fall into the hands of those” trying to rob them of their rights and dignity.

This was stated in a joint statement signed by the acting president of Council of Naga Affairs, Naw Aung Sann, and President of Naga Students and Youth Federation, Solong Theibung, a copy of which has been sent to this newspaper.

“We would also like to urge Naga leaders on all fronts to be more watchful at this decisive moment so that we will not repeat the same mistakes which have left us divided and confused while we extend a sincere appreciation and acknowledgment for the contributions of the past and present leaders,” read the statement.

'Support Naga Hoho'

The organisations also expressed their support and solidarity to Naga Hoho, which they said has been playing an important role of connecting the Nagas across the imposed borders, regions and states. While lauding the Hoho for standing by the vision of oneness for Naga people, they urged it to continue holding the torch of unity.

“Likewise, we also would like urge all Nagas in the west to give full support and stand with Naga Hoho by leaving aside all the differences so that Naga Hobo as the parental body of all the Naga CSOs will be able to further the mission of common mission for all Nagas,” read the statement.

It went on encourage everyone to strive for the common goal, saying that “Naga people have paid too heavy a price for disunity and division amongst ourselves”.
