Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): The Naga Hoho has condemned the killing of former president of Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN), Athuan Abonmai, who was found dead with gunshot injuries at Pallong village in Manipur after he was abducted by some unidentified persons on Wednesday.

“While the Naga civil societies were struggling all these years for unity and reconciliation among the Nagas, it is a disturbing and unfortunate to hear the news of fratricidal killing taking place within the Naga family,” read the statement from Naga Hoho.

It termed the killing as “a cowardice act and deserves condemnation by every right thinking citizen”.

‘Whatsoever the differences we may have, killing is neither the answer nor solution to any disagreement. As the teaching of Christianity talks about God's creation of humankind in His image and God does give life, it is God alone can take it away. We belief that all human life is sacred and that the sanity of life is a very important elements of the Christian faith,’ it stated.

The Naga Hoho said that all political groups must not forget to respect the people’s sentiments to avoid killings, kidnapping or unnecessary harassment to the innocent public.

“The need of the hour is reconciliation among the divided society to resolve the common issue at the earliest for the better future. The Naga Hoho appeal to all political groups to shun the path of violence and come forward to work for the peace to prevail in our land,” it stated.

Abonmai was allegedly abducted from Tamenglong district headquarters by some unidentified persons on Wednesday morning when he left home to attend an event organised by the government of Manipur. However, he was found dead with gunshot injuries later in the day.
