MDFA: Mongsenbai FC stun Revenant FC 9 – 0 to enter semis

Mokokchung, Oct. 20 (EMN): Mongsenbai FC qualified for the MDFA Trophy 2022 semifinal, thanks to a thrilling 9-0 win against Revenant FC at Imkongmeren Sports Complex on Thursday.

Mongsenbai FC’s Vinoka Aye and Imnatoshi both shared the limelight by scoring a hat-trick each while Ayimnukshi, Lolenyuba and Limakumzuk also contributed a goal each in the third quarter-final face-off.

Underdogs Revenant played a stubborn defensive game but their strategy proved futile as Ayimnukshi opened the account for Mongsenbai in the 12^th minute of the game.

Mongsenbai were in better position and pushed in two more goals in succession with Vinoka Aye starting his scoring spree in the 33^rd minute and Lolenyuba in the 38^th minute before the breather.

After the lemon break, Mongsenbai players came out with intent to finish what they started for. Limakumzuk volleyed home a long-range goal in the 50^th minute and 10 minutes later Vinoka Aye converted another kick from close range.

Even as Mongsenbai dominated the entire game, Imnatoshi raised their scoreline in the 67^th minute and three minutes later, Vinoka Aye scored his hat-trick in the 70^th minute.

Imnatoshi also scored two goals in succession in the 85^th and 86^th minutes to earn his hat-trick and the game ended in regulation time with an unbeatable 9-0 victory for Mongsenbai.

With the win, Mongsenbai FC advance to the semifinal and will face the winners of the quarter-final match between Telongjem FC and OCYU, scheduled for October 24.
